Projects live inside workspaces and are where your actual work happens. Each project has its own set of work items, its own item numbering, and its own methodology.

Creating a Project

Click New Project and fill in:

  • Name — A descriptive name for the project (e.g., "Website Redesign")
  • Prefix — A short uppercase code (1–10 characters) like "WEB" or "API". This prefix appears on every work item number (e.g., WEB-1, WEB-2).
  • Description — Optional notes about the project's purpose or scope.
  • Methodology — Choose between:
    • 📌 Kanban — Continuous flow. Work items move through statuses without fixed time periods.
    • 🏃 Scrum — Work is organized into sprints with defined start and end dates.

Project Cards

Each project card shows the project name, prefix, methodology, and a short description. Click any card to jump to its work items.

Favorites ⭐

Click the star icon on any project to add it to your Favorites section at the top of the sidebar. Favorited projects are always one click away, no matter which workspace you're in.

Archiving

Projects you're done with can be archived. They'll disappear from the main list and sidebar but can be brought back anytime using the "Show archived" toggle.

AI-Generated Projects

Depending on your plan, you may see a Generate with AI option. Describe what you want to build and Dragon Planner will create a project with a suggested set of work items to get you started.

⚠️ Plan Limits

Your subscription plan sets a maximum number of active projects. If you reach the limit, archive unused projects or upgrade your plan.
